Drum Tutor Background

Drum tutor Dan Laithwaite, started playing drums at the age of 12 years old and piano since the age of 7. Dan was initially taught by his father a drummer of 40years.When starting secondary school his passion for drumming went to the next level, when starting his first sets of performing in public and starting his first bands.

Fast forward to 18 years old Dan moved to London and studied music, in particular Drumming at renowned Drum School ‘’Drum-Tech’’. Upon completing his studies at Drum-tech Dan remained in London and auditioned for Pop/Rock band Go:Audio in which he was the drummer for there early years performing and showcasing all major record companies and was under management. Then a change in heart saw Dan leave Go:Audio and join Pop/Funk band Janerio, an 8 pc band based back in his home town Oxford. With Janerio was Managed by Ex- EMI records CEO Neil Feris and the band performed many high end gigs such as playing Party In The Park in Oxford in front of 10,000 capacity crowd next artists, Texas, Girls Aloud, Mcfly, Rachael Stevens.

After Janerio Dan formed the band along with old friends the Electro-Rock band ‘’The Electric City’’, in which his carrier entered new heights.

Dan and The Electric City worked and recorded at some of the most prestigious studios in London such as Sphere Studios and Metropolis Studios in which they worked with well known producers like Jim Lowe (Stereophonics) and Dimitri Tikovoi (Placebo, Nicola Roberts, Sophie Ellis Bextor).

The Electric City performed all round the world, with a Concert CV of huge proportions, Including Festivals like SouthBySouthWest in Texas and Bennicasim Festival in Spain playing alongside Muse, Kings of Leon and The Hives to supporting bands on tour like Fightstar, Orson, Elliot Minor, The Futureheads.

But the crown in Dan’s Live Performing CV was being personally asked by Roger Daltrey of The Who for The Electric City to support The Who at the Royal Albert Hall in London in support of the Charity ‘’Teenage Cancer Trust’’ TCT.
